Escaped Justice-Summary

There's a fine line between Justice and Revenge.

Cassidy's world as she knew it ended on June 25, 2001 at the age sixteen, when she witnessed her Father's murder by a gang of three men, one in particular, Rider.

Now eight years later Cassidy's on her own and has a vivid reminder of that car accident that took her Father's life. She hates Rider with a passion and will go to great lengths just to see that justice is served and he get's exactly what he deserves. The only problem is she doesn't know exactly who he is.

At the same time Rider, the lead man of the gang, does know who she is. He wants her silenced and will do it that anyway he can.
It's a game of hide and seek, but who’s hiding and who’s seeking?

Escaped Justice-Prologue Preview

Cassidy bolted up in bed as her bedroom door banged open. Her eyes flew to the door right as her father rushed in. He looked like a drowned rat; his hair wet and hanging below his ears. His clothes where soaked from head to toe and his face set in a serious expression. He was breathing heavy, his chest heaving in and out quickly. "We have to get out of here, Cassidy."
Swinging her legs over the side of her bed, she paled as all the blood left her face. "What's going on, Father?"
He shook his head vigorously, wet droplets falling on her plush floor. "Not now, Cass. We have to go, now."
Pushing herself off her bed, her legs shook as she took a few steps away from the bed. "But, Father…"
Sighing, her father met her halfway, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder before removing it a second later. "Hun, I'll explain it later. When we're safe."
Backing up, her legs hit the bed and buckled. Crashing back onto her bed, she sniffled and willed the tears not to come. "Safe? Are you in trouble?"
Turning on heel, he walked to her closet and grabbed her biggest suitcase. "Later, Cass. We need to leave. Pack whatever you can fit in this suitcase."
Nodding, she pushed herself off the bed. Glancing to her right, she spied her trashcan. Paling, she kicked it under her bed. She almost forgot about her own troubles, almost.
Swiping back a piece of curly hair, she came towards him, grabbing her suitcase. "Alright."
Jutting his head down, he turned and left the room. Turning left, he headed to his room.
With a sharp in-take of breath, she started packing several necessary outfits in the suitcase. Zipping it half way close, she turned and walked to her night table, picking up a picture of her and her boyfriend. Running her left hand down the glass covering the picture, she sighed. She hadn’t even had a chance to tell him…
Carefully placing the picture on her bed, she reached back for another picture, one of her and her sister. She missed Chloe, so bad.
She jumped as her father yelled down the hall. "Cassidy hurry up. We have to leave."
Grabbing both pictures, she stuffed them under her bed and jumped up. "Just a few more minutes."
Hurrying off to her bathroom, she grabbed her necessity items. Running a brush through her brown curls, she braided it back. Brushing her teeth and putting on a little make-up, she finished her packing and zipped the suitcase up. Grabbing a pair of jean shorts and tank top, she slipped into them and slid on a pair of flip flops.
Her father appeared at her door and without a word, grabbed her suitcase and left the room.
Swallowing, she glanced around her room once more, before walking to her bed and grabbing her purse. Slinging it over her shoulder, she left the room, closing the door behind her. Here goes nothing. Her life was about to change forever…again.
Glancing down the hallway, she took one last look. Swallowing the nausea and the tears, she started for the stairs. Placing a hand on the railing, she reached her hand up, playing with her new necklace. At least she had her father.
Stepping outside into the pouring rain and pitch black night, she ran to the car in the driveway. Slipping into the passenger door, she turned and faced her father. "Where are we going?"
Sticking the key in the engine, it roared to life. "I'm not sure yet. We'll just drive and see where is takes us."
As they backed out of the driveway, Cassidy glanced back at the house. "What about Nancy?"
Stepping on the accelerator, the car jumped forward. "I'll call her later and tell her to stay at her parents a bit longer. Then when we figure out where we're going I'll give her another call."
Cassidy nodded and faced the window. She leaned her head against the cold glass and watched the rain pour down.
